Alcohol and Other Drugs Harm Reduction (AODHR) Coalition
The WFU AOD Program recognizes that in order to reduce the negative impacts of alcohol and other drugs, it is crucial to actively involve members of the Wake Forest community in prevention efforts. The Wake Forest University Alcohol and Other Drugs Harm Reduction (AODHR) Coalition convenes stakeholders from across and around campus in order to work collaboratively on this important issue.
Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Coalition
The coalition discusses and addresses substance use & recovery issues on campus and establishes environmental initiatives to minimize the negative consequences of substance use. The coalition holds monthly meetings to discuss problems and strategize about possible solutions. The AODHR Coalitions goals include:
- Identifying risks related to the use, and/or misuse of alcohol/other drugs within the campus community
- Supporting educational and training programming related to substance use on campus
- Supporting the use of all campus resources designed to identify and respond to incidences of substance use within the campus community
- Increasing the acceptance and practice of healthy approaches to substance use through addressing attitudes, behaviors and practices as well as developing and implementing policies designed to reduce harm
- Working with the other prevention coalitions at Wake Forest University to maximize health and wellbeing within the community
- Providing regular communication with the campus community regarding the coalition’s activities and findings
